Frequently Asked Questions

Can I schedule a school visit?

We offer one free trial day for prospective students to try out Life School Phuket. Alternatively, if you would like to come in on your own first, that is also ok. Please contact us today to arrange a visit, as they are by appointment only.

Are there school uniforms?

We believe children should dress in comfortable clothes and we are not big fans of uniforms or uniform thinking for that matter. We encourage kids to express themselves via their clothing within reason.

How much is school tuition?

At Life School Phuket we try our best to keep costs down to make our learning community as affordable as possible.

Each term has a flat fee of 70,000 THB per student. There are 3 terms per academic year. A required security deposit of 50,000 THB is fully refundable upon completion of an academic year and one month's notice of moving the student onwards prior to the following academic year. There is a 10% discount on the 2nd student per family and a 25% discount on the 3rd child per family.

There are no "hidden extras" that many schools charge. Occasionally students will be asked for 200-500 THB for a field trip. Lunch is not included in tuition.

Do you provide snacks or lunch?

We provide fresh fruit for a mid morning snack break every day. For lunch, students have the choice of bringing in their own lunch or purchasing a school lunch from our staff. Typically the lunch consists of Thai food, with some vegetables and two choices per day.

Are you accredited?

We have found that accreditation seems to do nothing to enhance the education of our learners but adds significant costs and restraints.

Do you want an accredited result or institution? While our institution will always remain tied to the homeschool philosophy of freedom and critical thinking over "getting a piece of paper", your children can and will get an accredited result if they stay with Life School Phuket.

This is achieved in cooperation with our partner institutions. You can learn more about the alternative pathway we provide on the Alternative Pathway page. In order to fulfill our mission to provide the best value in international education, we have decided the costs outweigh the benefits of getting accredited.

Having accredited partners for certifying the education result achieved is a much more cost-effective solution and allows us to provide what we do at a much lower price.

What is child centered education all about and what are life skills?

Child-centered education is based on the idea that the modern form of educating children based on preparing students for long factory or office shifts is outdated. The idea that all children should be at a certain point in their mastery of various subjects based solely on age is not in line with reality. Children should not be taught to sit still and learn passively but should ask questions and think critically.

Obviously, in the large classes that most schools have it is impossible to focus on each student's strengths and zoom in at what they need to break through to the next level. To be truly child-centered we believe the ratio of students to a teacher should be somewhere between 6 and 12.

Life skills are all of those things we feel should have been taught to us in school but weren't. This can be anything from developing emotional intelligence, understanding economics and finance basics, sales skills, etc. For more info on the Life curiculum please visit the Life page.
